Trebes stranded still need to find dry dock and boat mechanic 13 Jan 2019 10:58 #103248

Hi Geoff
Have you checked with Ramonville St Agne as the pdf I downloaded in November said the technical port had a dry dock.
Looks like a suburb of Toulouse now. Does not mention engineer in pamphlet. Does mention 38 meter drydock.
Seems like the contact person is Olivier Iffig : 05 62 88 32 89

Trebes stranded still need to find dry dock and boat mechanic 13 Jan 2019 10:30 #103246

Hi Geoff. good idea to get a few more suggestions from the wealth of knowledge on here.
As I mentioned when I stopped by before xmas it might be worth popping down to La Somail and having a chat with William, he's on a barge called Johanna (big brown Luxemotor) It may have another big barge alongside called Rust Roust.
If William is not there speak to Johan on the other barge and he will give you phone details for Willy.
I'm still in the UK and I don't have his contact details with me. They are both very knowledgeable in all things barge and use the dock at Gailhousty when required.
If you do go there could you stop by at Homps and check Aurigny has refloated satisfactorily, it was all set up to do so automatically. I will be in the UK a while longer.
PM me if you want to stay on Aurigny for a change of scenery anytime. It's dull there but not as bad as where you are !
Regards,

Geoff - Have you tried Serge Ribes? (last known number 06 16 25 30 35). Based (I think) in or near Toulouse. Very helpful guy, speaks pretty good English. Knows a lot of people. Lives(d) on a barge at the Port Technic in Toulouse. Or contact Iain Noble, ex Moissac Capitaine 06 86 20 25 55. Also knows a lot of folk. BTW Both of these guys are on Facebook, so a search on there should bring them up. Best of luck.

Geoff - I can't help with first-hand experience (never been that far south), but I presume you've exhausted the boatyard entries in the DBA Waterways Guide and Fluvial Le Guide. I hope others have suggestions or contacts who will be able to help you.

I was very relieved you found someone else to help you move your barge just before the flood. I had offered but your pal was very much closer. I don't envy your experience. Good luck with getting your barge fixed.

Hi all,you may remember I had a little incident in the floods at Trebes and my barge Mededinger received some damage to her rudder.as I am still unable to move ( no water, lots of trees in midi, banks still not fixed, lock not operating) when I can and if I can, move,I need to get to a dry dock or slip to have repairs done. It appears the main dry dock at Toulouse has permanently closed? I have visited slipways at Castlenaudrey and gailhousty. They are either too small,or there are no marine mechanics near by. If anyone has any ideas,I would welcome any help.ps.thank you to all those who contacted me immediately after the flood...you actually kept me going!! Geoff
