We moored by the park at Coudekerque-branche lastyear, the far end is a little shallow (and levels go up and down) but we had no problem and it was quiet but we did stay on the boat and this is an urban area, It looks as if further improvements to the banks are being carried out this year?
Bergues might be safer but then the bus service is worse.
Nor did we have problems in Dunkirkfor that matter but certainly urban so nothing guaranteed, there is always the marina but a lot of time would be spent locking through.

There is a 2 km or so stretch of relatively new grass, 3 tier berm with sitting areas, good lighting and around PK 4-5, bollards and signs saying mooring is allowed. It is on the Canal de Bergues, headed away from Dunkirk, and across from a very large park area. It looks like a brand new EU funded waterways project. Has anyone tried mooring here? We are thinking about using it to moor and go into Dunkirk for a day but are a little worried about leaving barge with (locked) bikes and pretty much everything we own in Europe sitting on it. When we went past around 5 on Monday there were few people about. Hard to judge the safety level. Just wondering if anyone out there has any experience here - or Dunkirk in general. We certainly came in past a lot of hard up people san abri.
