Hello Stephen

You do not need to renew your BSS unless your barge returns to UK and enters EA/CRT waters.
Even then she can return as a self-certified visitor for an appropriate period before
certification.

You don't need a barge to join - a dream of boating in Europe will do'. See www.barges.org

Our British Safety Cert is about to expire and I am trying to find out if we need to re-certify her in Europe. Our Barge is less than 20 m in length, we are currently in Belgium and hope to go into France next Year . We do not have any plans to bring her back to the UK although she is registered in the UK.
We are new to the barge life and would appreciate any help the more experienced of you may be able to give us.
