Hello Andy,
Thanks for your prompt reply. At present the marina is in receivership, the new owner is awaiting possession. I guess we will have to talk to him one things are finalised.

Hello Sarah,

Good to hear from you! There are no specific requirements for separation between boats. Disappointing that the owner doesn't want to discuss the issue as there are clearly safety issues for both him and you. Your only recourse is to talk to the mooring owner pointing out the safety hazard. (Presume the boat owner has a shiny new BSS and licence to reflect his bigger boat?)

You don't need a barge to join - a dream of boating in Europe will do'. See www.barges.org

Hi Everyone,
Are there are any regulations in the UK about the correct distance that should be kept between moored boats (moored bow to stern) on the river Thames? Our barge is currently moored at a marina (but on the river, rather than in the marina). Our neighbour (upstream) has recently had his boat lengthened by 17ft, now that he has returned to his mooring the stern of his boat varies between a maximum of three feet and this morning it was only two feet away from our bow (this is dependant mainly on the flow). Our boat doesn't move back.

We are concerned about the fire hazard, and in addition in the Summer when we use the boat it will be difficult to return to our mooring, even with bow thrusters. Discussion with the boat owner proved futile. Does any one have any advice please?
