A gathering of historic ships in Ostend.
The port of Ostend extends into the very heart of a city that is en-fête throughout the festival. Visiting ships are accommodated in one of the oldest docks along the Belgian coast, where the crew will be able to enjoy the renowned hospitality of Ostend.
Based on previous years, nearly ¼ million visitors are expected to visit the event in 2018 - the centenary of the WW1 raid by HMS Vindictive on the port, which will be commemorated by the attendance of his Majesty King Philippe of Belgium, together with senior members of the Government and Armed Forces, with parades and ceremonies at the monument to the raid. The festival will also incorporate exhibitions about the raids on Ostend and Zeebrugge in 1918.
