DBA Members' Insurance

The new DBA Members' Insurance has specifically tailored terms and benefits to meet the needs of our members and attempts to take into account as many of the variables you as individuals have.

The Scheme will be operated by Haven Knox-Johnston (a trading name of Amlin Underwriting Services Limited) and underwritten by  Amlin Syndicate 2001. Amlin Syndicate 2001 has an A+ (superior) credit rating. They are owned by Amlin PLC, one of the largest independent insurers operating in the Lloyd's market.

The scheme that has been put together is different from any that Haven Knox-Johnston offer through insurance brokers or those that it features on its web site.

The key features that you will receive as members are:-

• A 10% discount off standard rates  
• Usually no need to complete a proposal form but will be able to provide all the relevant information by phone.
• Surveys will only be required every 7 years for barges over 30 years old.
• Facility to speak directly to the underwriter to ensure that the cover obtained is tailored to your needs as a barge owner.
• A 5% per annum increase of no claims discount up to a maximum of 25%. Existing no claims discounts of up to 25% can be transferred.
• Claims will be managed by HKJ directly, from the same office that members received their quotation.
• Cover provided will not be invalidated simply because a barge does not comply with regulations such as the BSS or TRIWV, where the issue of such has nothing to do with the cause of a loss.
• Cruising in UK, France, Belgium, Holland and all of Germany can be covered on standard terms. Wider cruising ranges can be agreed on a case by case basis.
• Third party cover up to £3m
• Floating homes contents cover (underwritten by Amlin Syndicate 2001 at Lloyd's) is available, giving you all the protection that you would receive from a shore based contents insurance.
