As promised, here are the machine translations of the Minutes of the Meeting and also of the 'slide' presentation.

Please keep in mind:

Unemployment means Chômage or stoppage
Mooring or anchorage means depth of channel
Sinking capacity also means depth of channel
Channels means canals

Further to my previous post:-

barges.org/forum/waterways-continental-europe/26946-vnf-user-group-meeting-dt-nord-est-clu-ne-4-october-2021#126158

please now find attached the MoM and Presentation received from VNF DT NE last week.

The former is a formidable 17 pages long, blow by blow account of who said what to whom, so I hope members will forgive me if I do not translate it word for word here. For those interested in the headline aspects, I refer to my Summary appended to my previous post. Bob Marsland has kindly offered to provide a machine translation of the MoM in full (I do not have the requisite software), so watch this space. Why VNF insist on a virtually verbatim report is anybody's guess. At the next meeting I think I will request that they minute the results only (that'll shorten it!) rather than a record of everyone's no doubt well meant utterances - but I doubt it'll get me anywhere. That all being said, it is worth a read for those who do or who plan to use the NE waterways this year or next - I recommend finding a quiet time slot, a comfy armchair in a cosy corner and a pot of tea or ample measure of good malt, whichever is your preference, there's something in it for everyone.

The latter (Presentation) is identical to the one already posted last time, with the cunning addition of a 9-slide section on the topic "Plantes Invasives" (Slides 12-21). These slides are actually lifted verbatim from the previous CLU DT NE presentation on 21st May 2021 (q.v.), so nothing new, though they do still make for very sobering reading.

As I reported on this Forum recently, there is a national conference on the subject of "Plantes Invasives" planned for 31st January 2022 in Dijon, now to be held remotely (Covid). Bob has asked me to attend, which I will do, and if anyone else is interested, please let Bob or me know.

Thanks Richard and Balliol. I've circumvented the problem for now, partly by judicious use of the generator when no other boats moored nearby (it's 'silenced', but still...) and partly by having moored at Waltenheim-s-Zorn overnight again, where the new bornes are much more forgiving (€4 for 8, €8 for 16 and €12 for 24 hours).

After 16 hours the domestic battery bank gauge is now showing 27.8V (5 mins. after disconnecting from shore power).

If both battery banks output the same voltage then you could just link them with jump leads whilst the engine is running, making sure that all is done safely of course.

I think I am right but a few miles along the canal heading into France there is a huge supermarket (Cora?) and a Brico wlthin easy walking distance of the canal and I should think there must be a 6 amp charger there somewhere

Thanks Balliol. Admiral still on board, CH, gas, red & white fuel feeds, loo cistern, all sorted, the only remaining problem is the engine alternator, which charges the engine starter and bowthruster batteries but not the domestic battery bank, so I guess it's the splitter. Beyond me to sort that one out, I'm afraid, so need to find an electrician. So I've been having to charge via the generator every day. And unfortunately while the port de plaisance at Souffelweyersheim, where we've been since yesterday, has electricity, it's only 6 amps, so no use to man or beast, the shore fuse blows if I connect up (16 amp charger).

Hey ho.

Erratum: having seen Marc Bostin's hotel boat in the flesh at Saverne last Friday I now see that it is named "Princess", not "Princesse" as I wrongly assumed (Summary Item 1). Acoustic error on my part.

I've edited the title, Pete, so the record will be straight for the future.

Cheers,

I attended this meeting on Monday this week on behalf of DBA. We then left for our first joint visit to our boat in France for well over a year, due to Covid, only to find that what could have gone wrong, had. Engine, generator, fuel supply, gas, heating, you name it, it was feeling neglected and unloved, and showed it. The Admiral having made it plain in no uncertain terms that either things - particularly the heating! - improved rapidly or she would abandon ship, complete with dogs, I'm afraid typing up minutes of meeting has had to take a rather poor second place in the grand scheme of things. So my apologies for the slight delay in producing the attached meeting summary, together with VNF's presentation - I will forward the full MoM on receipt of same from VNF.

And tomorrow: off into the sunrise!
