Hi Neil
An interesting question.

As the temperature of the water is dropping (winter is just arriving in Burgundy), and the reduced sunlight, shorter days, more clouds, the weed is naturally dying down.

To extent that the weed where we moor is about 5% of what it was in the height of the summer.

What VNF intend to do is anyone's guess, perhaps remove the roots?  This was done on The Somme a couple of years ago, to great success.

If I hear anything locally I'll post it here.

Today’s Avis from VNF informs that the Canal Champagne-Bourgogne is to be closed at weekends to allow tackling of the large quantity of weed -

Is this a regular event with a satisfactory outcome for the following season, or is the weed situation getting worse?
