Canal de St Quentin

Here is the reply to my question to Clair Sénécourt, Tourism supremo in  VNF Lille:

Bonjour Monsieur Marsland, 

Je vous prie de trouver en pièce-jointe, une décision du Directeur général de VNF en date du 18 janvier 2023 concernant la modification des jours de chômages programmés pour la période du 1er janvier 2023 au 31 décembre 2023 

Certains chômages du canal de Saint Quentin sont reportés aux dates suivantes :
- Ponts canaux de Noyelles et Saint-Waast du 1er avril (*) au 15 août 2023
- Ecluse de Proville : du 05 juin au 16 juin 2023
- Ecluse de Honnecourt : du 26 juin au 03 juillet 2023 

(*) A noter que nous avons été informé aujourd’hui que le démarrage du chômage des Ponts canaux de Noyelles et Saint-Waast serait au 15/04/2023 plutôt que comme indiqué au 01/04/2023

Certain non-working days of the Saint Quentin canal are postponed to the following dates:

(*) Please note that we have been informed today that the start of the unemployment of the Noyelles and Saint-Waast canal bridges would be on 15/04/2023 rather than on 01/04/2023 as indicated

So, it now looks as if it will be possible to navigate the canal until the 14th April 2023.

If you go to vnf.fr and click on "Nos chantiers programmés en 2023" or "Our projects scheduled for 2023" if your browser automatically translates, you will find the map of the scheduled chômages, the list of the scheduled chômages and the list of the amendments to the scheduled chômages each of which you can download.

Another suggestion is to make a call to the control lock, l'écluse de Crèvecoeur, on +33 3 27 78 24 24.

The aquaducts at Saint Waast and Noyelles are on chômage from April 1 to August 15 according to the revised 2023 chômage list.  The other change from the original chômage list is l'écluse de Honnecourt which has moved to June so there may be a week from now until 20th March open until L'écluse de Proville goes out.  I doubt that is long enough for you, Martin.

I recommend studying the chômage list and the revised chômage ist on vnf.fr and the Sambre-Oise looks more promising.

I have also written to VNF in Lille for absolute clarification but reading the Chômage list and the amendments to the list it doesn't look good.  Apart from a couple of 2 day windows it will not be possible to through navigate the Canal de Saint Quentin until the middle of August.

Sorry you will have to delay your departure, Martin, but I think you will enjoy the Sambre-Oise axe.
