I'm even more confused now as I've had the following reply from VNF at Cambrai:

"Le canal de St Quentin sera fermé à la navigation à compter du 17 avril 2023  pour une durée de 4 mois."

I really hadn't seen that it was closed for most of the summer.  And it won't be navigable thereafter because of weed!

Good point and, as we wanted to go that way in April, I've sent an email to VNF just now. I'll post what I get back

Rob
PS: I would say you're a frequent floater rather than flyer but that doesn't sound good, does it?

Hi All

sorry to be a frequent flyer on this subject but have tried using the site  www.vnf.fr/calculitinerairefluvial/app/Main.html to ascertain if we can get through the St Quentin end of March/April and it still says that it is open and there are no chomages.  Can any one help me here? Can see there was a planned chomage from January till the 9th May with 'Navigation interrompue' but is this still the case?

We are blocked from our other route on the Sambre as we cannot get out of Kortrijk down the Bossuit- Kortrijk canal until 1st April and we really wanted to leave before then.

regards

Evening all,

was told by a boater who moored here yesterday that the Canal de St Quentin is open in March but will be closed in April till the 9th May. I have had a look but still think that it is closed  (Navigation interrompu) until the 9th May. Does any one have any further info on this as if it is open then an early get away in March would now be possible.

thanks

I've answered my own question:  it's the aqueducts at St Waast and Noyelles that are closed until 9 May.

See  www.vnf.fr/vnf/app/uploads/2022/07/Donn%...8me_%C3%A9dition.pdf

Pity - wanted to go that way!

I can't find it now but I recall some discussion late last summer about the St Q being closed in April.  I can't now find an avis or chomage but that might just be me!  PC Navigo thinks it's open but the VNF route planner suggests otherwise without showing me the avis.
Anyone know?
thanks
