VNF DT Centre-Bourgogne User Group - Information pack 28 Apr 2020 12:00 #115584

More from DT Centre-Bourgogne. Not good news but understandable. Translation below.

Cordialement,

La direction Centre-Bourgogne

Translation:

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Following the latest exchanges with the companies involved in chômage work, we regret to inform you of the delay in opening the Seille to navigation caused by the health crisis linked to COVID19.

Indeed, due to the health measures imposed on companies as part of the protection against coronavirus, the work on the locks at La Truchère and Loisy (Seille) will be lengthened.
The opening of the Truchère lock cannot be envisaged in degraded mode before June 22nd. For Loisy, an opening on 15/06 is possible.

We are aware of the inconvenience that this situation may cause for you. We will, of course, keep you informed of developments on this subject.

Thank you also for giving us your feedback on the chômage on the Yonne by this evening,

Yours sincerely,

Direction Centre-Bourgogne

The third attachment concentrates on the hydrological situation and shows the reservoirs in good condition but the flows in rivers sadly lacking as there has been little rain recently.

Thanks, Paul and Bob.

Actually I see a lot of smiley green faces: the message seems to be at present the water levels are good (though another hot dry summer would soon change this). The main point I take is that Covid-19 has meant the suspension of much planned repairs and maintenance, with staff resources being concentrated on work that will help maintain water levels. The earliest the canals can reoppen is the end of May.

Priority is being given to water levels on the Yonne, which means there may be rapid changes in levels. keep mooring roles loose!

Hello all interested in French waterways.

This evening I have received three documents from VNF.

The first is an overview of the situation, at present and possible re opening plan. Please notice the stress on "Possible".

Second is the water reserve situation, in simple terms look for the absence of "Smiley Green Faces", there are none - As an aside there has been no rain in April and none forecast.

The third, is a synopsis of the Coronavirus situation.

The files are PDF and in French, I am not in the position to spend hours translating them. I've had a quick look and Google Translate does a reasonable job.
