TOPIC: Openings in France

Openings in France 07 May 2020 19:22 #115782

Franc's plan for coming out of Lockdown, is perhaps not as simple as it may seem.

For instance, Burgundy, being a "red zone", will not see a slackening of the tight movement controls until May 31st at the earliest. The situation will be reviewed, and even then the date may be pushed back.

Borders with other Schengen states will remain closed, except for cross border workers until June 15th.

So, all I can say is, if you are planning to come to France from an external country, make sure that you can a) be allowed into the country, as no one other than French nationals and permanent residents + a couple of specialised occupations, such as medical coming to help in the treatment of Covid 19.
b) once arrived you will be allowed to 1) travel within the department, and 2) travel to or though other departments to reach your destination.

Also, if there's a second wave, full Lockdown can be reinstated at any time, and you may become "stuck" where you are.

If the deconfinement occurs on May 11, VNF will reopen to navigation on May 29(canal du Midi).

Let’s hope....
