I have just received in short succession the minutes of meeting of the CLUs held in March 2021 and June 2021 (I will post the latter separately).

I now attach the MoM in French and English. The latter is a machine translation that I have tried to tidy up a bit so hope it is more or less comprehensible.

Why it has taken so long, no idea - no use to Helen now of course, sorry about that, perhaps the minute taker was in his/her own Covid bubble.

I have not included the presentation here. This is a very large file and was already posted at the time in 2 parts by Bob Marsland:

The world will play its little tricks - my apologies for the slight delay, a family member (care patient) needed a little extra TLC over the weekend. Please now find attached my summary of the meeting of the DT Strasbourg CLU held by videoconference on Friday 19th March 2021. The Minutes of Meeting and a further summary / translation will be posted on receipt from VNF.

This should have occurred to me before, sorry, but while this doesn't answer your question re water levels, on which Bob has already ppsted, VNF has confirmed that the Csnal des Vosges will reopen in late March almost as planned - see Bob's recent post
barges.org/forum/waterways-continental-europe/26415-vnf-dt-nord-est-extension-of-stoppage-on-the-vosges

There was no direct mention of the Canal des Vosges at today's DT Strasbourg CLU meeting - other than the habitual complaints of long suffering users, particularly commercials, that all 3 north-south canals are too often impassable due to unplanned stoppages and/or weed. More to follow.

Thanks Bob - that's really helpful - it's gone up since I last looked which is great. Sorry I am not very well clued up about what is where in terms of VNF regions - I will try and pay more attention in future.

Helen,

As Pete has pointed out the Canal des Vosges is in DT N-E not Strasbourg. However, looking at the state of water reserves on the VNF website,

www.vnf.fr/vnf/services/etat-des-reserves-en-eau/

it shows Bouzey reservoirs at 79% capacity om 1st March 2021. So, you should be alright to navigate once the chômages are over.

Best wishes,

Bob

Indeed, Pete. The file is nearly 18MB with the forum maximum of 9MB. I have split it into two and have managed to attach them here:

Be aware... or beware! these are big files.

I just tried to upload the presentation for today's meeting, received yesterday, but it seems to be too big (75 slides). Very long but very good, at least in presentation terms. This will be my first DT Strasbourg CLU so I await the discussion with interest (particularly as my own boat is moored in Saverne on the CRME - sorry Pete M and Tam: Canal de la Marne au Rhin Est). I'll have to see how I can upload the files later.

In VNF orga terms the Canal des Vosges is DT NE, not DT Strasbourg, but I'll see if I can sneak in a question ;)
The next VNF DT NE CLU, which all being equal I will attend either physically or remotely, is not until 18th May but info re water levels should be available before then on the VNF website - not easily navigable but hey: nor are their canals nowadays, so yet another challenge :)

BTW my previous message acknowledging the stupidity of my request seems not to have posted. I am blaming the covd bubble. I don't even know if it is day or night sometimes.

Thanks Peter - no hurry. I am in Strasbourg but getting ready to set off around April 2/3 (pending covid announcements permitting) and plan to return in Sept/Oct. Particularly interested to know if the current level of water in the Vosges (around 42%) will be sufficient for it to be open for navigation and if so for how long this season. I appreciate this may not be an agenda item so not asking for it to be added bit if it comes up would be good to know.

Hi Helen

I'm working on my clairvoyance talents but will attend the meeting tomorrow afternoon just to be sure I get it right. I'll post the results hopefully at the weekend, Monday latest, depending how voluminous. Are you moored in Strasbourg or will you be on the move? If anything urgent comes up I can post it in advance.
