Work at both Northmoor and Abingdon are over-running - probably into the New Year.

Noice and map attached (map does not show Northmoor details)

Probably the biggest waste of electrons - EA got the year wrong for the start of work at Cookham lock - should be Jan 2021 (not 2020) - that is the only change!

Yes - there was a cock-up and only tail gates had been ordered (two gates not one as rumoured!)

The EA project engineer responsible has made an opportunity out of a disaster and opened the navigation over Christmas and the New Year while the head gates are constructed - and built in project resilience should ther be strong streams and high levels this winter.

In the meeting Peter Collins explained that the work was being split into two halves - upstream and downstream gates - adding flexibility and resilience should there be strong stream problems . But perhaps you have heard different direct from the gate manufacturer?

Hello All,

I heard that Days Lock only had one gate on order - one is made and they did not have the works order for the second in mid September
perhaps that’s why the work is split?
Any any other organisation it would be unbelievable but 😳😀

Kind regards

RICHARD

Attached

Note that Cookham lock will not now be closed until January and there is a seasonal break in the work on Days lock allowing Christmas and New Year boating.

There are also a number of one day stoppages for diver checks on lock level gauges. Uusally transit allowed when the diver has a rest!
