Good news (I hope): VNF announce that the repairs should be finished by the end of the day. It will take about a week to refill the 18 km pound, allowing the locks to re-open at the end of next week.

Latest information is that work commenced on Monday 27 May. VNF plan to begin filling the breach with concrete on Monday 3 June. This will need to be done a number of times before they can refill the canal and re-open to traffic.

Still silence from VNF, but a local newspaper report says (probably) end of June

Latest from VNF is that the closure will be for at least 3 weeks, probably longer.

There has been a major leakage near Iguerande, and the canal is currently closed between locks 1 and 6. The solution will probably be to drain the affected section (between Briennon and Artaix) for emergency repairs. Anyone moored on this long pound risks being left hanging!
