=12.0ptNavigation Interruption on the Canal Lateral a la Garonne=12.0pt =12.0ptAnyone cruising or planning to cruise west of Toulouse on the Canal de Garonne will be aware of the incident earlier this year when a tree fell onto the bridge at Tersac.=12.0pt =12.0ptToday the VNF sent out an update on the situation, planned stoppages & resumption to navigation.=12.0pt =12.0ptBelow is a brief translation of the notice and details of relevant dates:=12.0pt =12.0pt:::: =12.0ptFollowing the fall of a tree on the Tersac bridge (municipality of Meilhan-sur-Garonne), the structure was heavily damaged and the risk of collapse required a total shutdown of navigation on the Canal Lateral a la Garonne between lock no. 46 (Bernès) and lock no. 47 (Gravières) for several months. This situation forced the manager of the work - Val de Garonne Agglomération, to demolish the bridge.=12.0pt =12.0ptThis project requires significant work, the schedule of which has just been communicated: =12.0ptThe work will take place from July 8 to 26, 2024. The work will require the partial emptying of reach / pound 47 of the Canal Lateral a la Garonne during this period and its filling afterwards as a=12.0pt =12.0ptresult of the work. Taking into account these new elements, navigation could thus, subject to the various risks and hazards inherent to the site, resume from July 29, 2024. In the event of crowds, adjustments to lock passage times will be put in place when navigation reopens.=12.0pt =12.0ptAs a reminder, freight and passenger transport boats will have priority over pleasure boats (private or rental):::=12.0pt =12.0ptTimetable:=12.0ptJuly 6-7, 2024: Emptying of the pound by VNF=12.0ptJuly 8-26: Demolition work by Val de Garonne Agglomération =12.0ptJuly 27-28: Re-Filling of the pound by VNF=12.0ptJuly 29: Resumption of navigation=12.0pt
