Thanks for the info Patrick, hopefully they get it fixed soon or it's going to be quite a long detour to go around. I will be keeping an eye on it, still a few weeks before I get there.

The Schotdeurenbrug may have reopened, but as the Arkel rail bridge (a kilometre north) closed this morning until further notice it doesn’t really help.

Hi Timmi,

That would make sense but I don’t know for certain as we decided to go up the Linge to Geldermalsen instead.
I expect the Schotdeurenbrug will restart operating very soon. The work was due to be completed at the end of last week and then Monday was a national holiday.

Hi Patrick
Thanks for that info, I am planning to go that way and did notice it was closed for repairs. Are they letting sports boats going north take the Merwedekanaal from Gorinchem instead so as to bypass this? I remember from the last time I went this way, that sports boats needed to take the Linge diversion even if continuing on and not going up the Linge turnoff itself.

Kind Regards

Timmi

The Schotdeurenbrug (between the Linge and the Merwedekanal at Arkel) was supposed to have reopened on 3rd May 2025 according to  Vaarweginformatie. However, it was not possible to pass today, 6th May, and bridge repair work looked to be continuing. Worth calling to check if you plan to go that way. 0031704417710
