Hi Robert,
can confirm that the St Quentin is (or was and that was a week ago) full of water and some weed but nothing that should stop you.  Plus its a very lovely canal.
cheers

Good for you!  Soissons is nice. Don't miss the ruins of the abbey up on the hill.  Happy travels.

Hi Martin
We chickened out - due to a combination of French and Walloon avis.  We don't do stressful when we're boating and didn't want to end up rushing (which we also don't do)
We're now in Soissons and will head up the St Q which looks okay

Hi Robert
how did you get on, especailly now as there seems to be a general lack of water in that direction?

So looking at this you can still exit the Ardennes and head northwards?
thanks

Please see attached PDF of VNF e-mail 11.08.2025 - sorry for delayed post, received while away.

English Translation below:

"Dear Sirs,The particularly unfavourable weather conditions this weekend have prevented water levels in the upper Meuse river from rising sufficiently to allow for even a temporary reopening. In anticipation of the upcoming minimum flow levels, which require us to maintain a minimum amount of water in rivers during low water periods in order to preserve aquatic environments, the reopening of the Meuse in the section between lock 1 at Troussey andSaint-Mihiel lock 10 and the reopening of the locks located on the Moselle side of the Marne-Rhine Canal West (Toul valley) from Void lock 12 to Toul lock 25, previously announced from Monday 11 August at 12 noon, will therefore not be possible. We invite you to share this information widely with your customers, members and anyone likely to be sailing in the Meuse area in the near future. We will keep you regularly informed of developments on the networks concerned."
